Brunei Darussalam is strategically prioritizing tourism from China for 2025, recognizing the massive potential and existing popularity of the market.
Chinese visitors are already a significant part of Brunei’s travel landscape, making up over 15.5% of all international air arrivals. To build on this momentum, authorities are launching specific initiatives designed to smooth the path for these tourists and deepen bilateral connections.
The biggest boost to this effort is the new visa waiver, which officially launched in March 2025. This welcome change allows Chinese nationals to visit Brunei for up to fourteen days without needing a visa beforehand, making spontaneous trips and shorter holidays much more accessible.
This move signals Brunei’s serious commitment to growing its tourism sector, leveraging the ease of access provided by the waiver to showcase the Sultanate’s unique blend of culture, nature, and tranquility to a wider audience of Chinese travelers.
