From above, Lugu Lake resembles a giant sapphire set in the mountains, reflecting the beauty of the surrounding peaks. Sitting at an altitude of 2,691 meters above sea level, it is the third deepest freshwater lake in China. The lake lies on the border of Ninglang Yi Autonomous County in Yunnan and Yanyuan County in Sichuan.
