Kyrgyzstan celebrated International Snow Leopard Day at United Nations headquarters in New York, highlighting its status as a leader in mountain ecosystem preservation and biodiversity conservation. Kyrgyzstan’s Permanent Mission to the UN arranged the thematic stand for the snow leopard — the national symbol of Kyrgyzstan’s high-mountain nature. It called on the international community to join in the efforts to rescue the threatened animal and its fragile habitats. The celebration was attended by diplomats from UN agencies, foreign diplomatic corps, and snow leopard range states. The event once again confirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to sustainable development, nature protection, and international cooperation for the conservation of its natural heritage, which is unique.
