Typhoon Bualoi kills dozens in Philippines

Last week, a typhoon struck small central islands. Floods resulted from the toppling of trees and power pylons. About 400,000 people were evacuated. 27 people died, primarily from drowning or collisions with debris. followed by Super Typhoon Ragasa, which had already claimed 14 lives. About 20 storms and typhoons hit the Philippines each year, frequently striking areas that are vulnerable and affected by poverty.
Thirteen confirmed deaths and twenty reported missing. More than 44,200 homes were damaged, 800 were flooded, and about 6,000 hectares of crops were submerged.
About 53,000 people were evacuated to hospitals and schools. More than 180 flights were canceled or delayed; four domestic airports and a section of the national highway were closed.
